Hi, my name is Darryl Uglow and I am the founding owner of Chequergate.  The company is formed on the back of 30 years' finance experience with 16 years' specific to the disability sector within adult social care.

Due to the limited resources available in the care sector we are keen to work with you to help you better understand the financial numbers of the business and sector.  We care heavily about the sector and always try and integrate where we can service delivery with finance but never forgetting that we are dealing with people’s lives and the care of meeting those needs.  Our specialism is the Disability sector within Health and Social Care. Chequergate Logo

Myself and my company, Chequergate, bring a wealth of experience from the care sector; the priority focus to make sense of your accounts through detailed analysis with a view to building a sustainable financial strategy for the longer term.

Our ethos is ‘thinking beyond the numbers’ and we strongly believe in adding value to what you currently do.  We like to work with you so that you see finance as an integral part of your business and not something that is alien.  We offer strong analytical skills and the ability to analyse large data sets and combine non-finance data with finance data to help understand issues and processes within your company.

The knowledge gained from the public sector helps us understand the commissioning environment we are currently working within and the current issues being faced.  We have extensive knowledge of the framework agreements and contracts in place and the areas to focus on to ensure compliance.

Whilst my personal strengths and background are linked to the care sector, the skill set and expertise can be applied to any field where you have a need for a fresh pair of eyes to look at the finance and processes of your company.  I also believe that efficiencies are achieved through planned financial strategy that fits the long term goals of the organisation, and not through instant cuts which are not sustainable in the long term.

I am a fellow Member of AAT and also MBA qualified after graduating in October 2016 from Lincoln University.  An advocate for lifelong learning I am always keen to improve my skills, expertise and knowledge to maintain my high levels of service at Chequergate.

I am a massive music fan and you will often find me browsing charity shops for vinyl or at local gigs listening to an eclectic range of bands.  In my spare time I am writing a book about the history or record shops in Lincoln which is currently at over 50 since World War II.

I am passionate about the volunteering I do outside of work and am a great believer in putting something back into my local community.  I am involved in several charities and roles around Lincoln which keep me busy, but which I get a huge amount of satisfaction from.  Chequergate is based at Bishop Grosseteste University Lincoln, and since being there I have used this base to integrate myself in a number of volunteering roles.

Team Photo Drill HallBG Futures is actively involved in promoting the Teenage Market of which I recently became a sponsor.  The photo to the left is of the team of volunteers at the market held in March 2017.  The Teenage Market encourages and supports young people to be entrepreneurial enabling them to experience trading in their own market place. Through this I have recently joined the Board of the Young Enterprize Council and will be running finance and business workshops with them in the near future.

Outside of work I am a FA Level 2 qualified coach and I coach goalkeeping to a local football team once a week. I am proud of the skills and qualities I see the youngsters develop through working with them.  Most recently I have become a Director and treasurer for Every-one charity, a charity which aims to empower people to be in control of their own health, well-being and social needs.
